The Privacy Icons Forum (PIF) is a collaboration of institutions that focus on the development, design and implementation of data privacy and data protection icons.
About Privacy Icons.
We aim to promote research on the design of icons that enhance the awareness of users on their choices about privacy and data protection and the risks involved. With this forum, we encourage the collaboration and the exchange of best practices and results among projects across the EU and the world.
The PIF is a joint initiative by the Weizenbaum Institute (affiliated with the Humboldt University of Berlin Law Faculty), the SnT (University of Luxembourg), CIRSFID (Università di Bologna), and the Einstein Center for the Digital Future (affiliated with the University of the Arts in Berlin).
Current projects vary in their approaches of the development, design, evaluation and implementation of privacy icons. Get to know what different functions icons can have, on what grounds relevant information is selected for visualisation, how the design process is shaped and how we can evaluate privacy icons with regard to their effectiveness.
